A Christmas Sonnet(carol eventually)

When first man’s life began, in Eden’s garden fair,

The wicked serpent came and tempted sorry Eve.

Both she and Adam fell, through sin earned grief and care,

In fleshly bondage fast, until virgin conceive.

Now in this manger poor, lies He they did await,

His childish face awash, with radiant glory bright.

True God incarnate here, has taken man’s estate

At last the promised One, who’s born to be our Light.

In hymns of joy which echo and resound,

Creation sings the Savior’s holy birth;

In lowly child, salvation now is found,

And see, the very hills, they ring with mirth!

So raise your voice aloud and please to join our gleeful air,

For God this day gave us His Son in answer to our prayer.

Any ideas for a title anyone?

I just ran across your blog by linking through Fumare (I'm a student at AMSOL), and thought you might be interested in submitting work to this Catholic journal that will be starting soon. I pasted the email that the editors sent to me below:

"Dear Friends,

My colleague and I are in the beginning stages of forming a new online literary journal (with hopes of one day going to paper), and are seeking submissions. We are seeking essays on art, literature, culture, anything really. We are also seeking short stories, creative nonfiction, interviews with authors or artists, poems, book and film reviews.

The impetus for this publication is to feature quality writing that is Catholic in heart, but not preachy or focused on explaining doctrine (more Flannery O'Connor than Bud MacFarlaine). We are tired of reading leftist cultural commentary and opaque amoral literature. It is the "New Yorker" or "Harpers" for people who hold certain things to be True. It would differ from "First Things," and "Crisis" by focusing more on the arts and culture than politics and academia (though these topics are not excluded).

Please forward this email to anyone you think might be interested in contributing or subscribing. Submissions and inquiries should be sent to revieweditors@yahoo.com

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Elizabeth Duffy
Emily Cook"

- Anyway, you should consider it, and consider passing the word to others. Write to the email revieweditors@yahoo.com if you have questions for them.

John,

Thanks for the head's up. Is it a forum for amateur writers, like Dappled Things? In any case, it's a jolly idea.
